The Story
Why I built SkillSpark
In 2015, I joined my father's seed-stage startup in Chennai. We desperately needed three key candidates to scale operations. For 3 months straight, I interviewed hundreds of candidates across the city—but kept hitting the same wall. Most had degrees but lacked real-world skills. They couldn't think like entrepreneurs. They couldn't ship.
Meanwhile, I knew brilliant college students from my network who had the hunger and potential, but no door to walk through. No connections. No experience. No fair shot. The system was broken.
So I started training a few of these students in the exact skills we needed. Within weeks, they shipped real features. They got better. They proved themselves. Two of them eventually became key team members at the company. That worked so well, it showed me something bigger was possible.
SkillSpark is my answer to the problem I faced for 3 months in 2015. I'm fixing the broken hiring market by building a community of trained, vetted talent that startups can actually trust—and doing it in weeks, not months.
